The Community Impact Consultant for the Western States Affiliate drives the execution of health impact goals aligned with strategic goals to make longer, healthier lives possible.
In this role, you will serve as an internal consultant to assigned divisions on community and population health strategies and trends with a specialized focus on programs to drive health improvement.Priority areas include focusing on hypertension, cholesterol, nutrition, obesity, and physical activity across the ten states served by the Western States Affiliate.Key to success is effectively integrating population health strategies across initiatives in collaboration with Development, Quality & Systems Improvement, Advocacy and Communications & Marketing partners.
The location is flexible within California with cost-effective access to travel.
Primary responsibilities include:
Consult on the development of and directly implementan overall community action plan that includes engagement and positioning strategies around population health driving to organizational goals around healthy behavior, which includes blood pressure management, and other health impact initiatives.
Effectively build a network of meaningful volunteer and stakeholder relationships to create a sustainable culture of health across the communities served.
Serve as a catalyst and convener with strategic organizations and demonstrate progress through reach of system changes.
Drive direct health impact via targeted strategic community alliances (i.e., faith-based institutions, FQHCs, community centers etc.) and corporate relationships (i.e., Top 25 Companies, sponsors, etc.)
Collaborate with division EDs to determine sponsorable strategies to address significant population reach that will drive to the reduction of health disparities in diverse audiences.
Work collaboratively with Corporate Relations and other Development staff partners and volunteers to identify, cultivate and secure prospective sponsors for relevant campaigns, driving to specific sponsorship activations and deliverables with development team. This includes supporting field campaign revenue through developing and directly implementing health asset sponsorships/activations and other means.
Build, implement and consult on cross-functional strategies to address population health management such as hypertension and cholesterol control strategy (high blood pressure management, cholesterol and healthy behavior initiatives) in the market with strong integration of Health Strategies and Development.
Train internal and external teams on improving control rates for chronic disease management. Assists with educating all staff in the market to effectively share what the AHA is doing to address health equity.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field; Master’s degree preferred
Demonstrated ability to drive toward and achieving results
Highly adaptable with the ability to thrive in a matrixed and dynamic environment
Effective communication and presentation skills across audiences
Proficiency in MS Office
Ability to travel extensively locally (up to 75%) and overnight (up to 30%)
Minimum 3 years’ progressive experience in:
Public health, health systems or equivalent
Recruiting, mobilizing and managing volunteers, including C-suite level executives and community leaders
Applying marketing insights to develop appropriate strategies
Managing internal and external relationships with the ability to gain trust and demonstrate influence without authority
Preferred qualifications include:
Demonstrated success in developing proposals and securing of sponsorships, major gifts and foundations funding
Knowledge of corporate and community networks
Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs
