The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Health Equity Program Manager, EmPOWERED to Serve at our office located in Dallas, TX.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and implementing the EmPOWERED To Serve (ETS) initiative as a key program leader in the Office of Health Equity. Responsible for driving research, planning, consultation, event management, reporting of outcomes and engagement for programs related to social determinants of health (SDOH). Responsible for leading development of ETS strategic planning, ensuring successful marketing and communications execution, meeting planning and management, volunteer development and engagement and key stakeholder partnership support, engagement and curation.
Essential Job Duties:
Work cross functionally to develop, implement, and execute strategic initiatives end to end from initiation, program management, marketing planning and execution and reporting that solve against social determinants adversely impacting the cardiovascular and brain health of Americans living in multicultural, rural, protected and low socioeconomic communities across the country.
Perform project management duties in collaboration with colleagues and staff, including initiating and defining project scope, planning, coordinating, executing, documenting, monitoring, controlling (progress), and closing assigned projects as needed in conjunction with the cross-functional team process. Provide updates and reports to staff, consultants, volunteers and Sr. Leadership on the status of initiatives.
Develop and execute insight and strategic planning for AHA channel and portfolio initiatives, ensuring that social determinants against the cardiovascular and brain health of all communities and individuals is being considered and integrated in the initial planning phases. Identify and target tactics in existing AHA programs where messaging and integration of health equity can align to the mission, strategic value proposition and 2030 goals of the organization. Collaborate with internal/eternal stakeholders and peers to create and drive equity focused initiatives that bring actionable and attainable outcomes to communities disproportionately affected by SDOH.
Build and maintain relationships with partners, alliances, institutions and organizations that will support the AHA and Office of Health Equity via funding, resourcing and research. Support Partnerships and Alliances by creating mutually beneficial plans with tier one opportunities by partnering with the Office of Health Equity Strategic Alliances and Partnerships Manager.
Ideate and develop plans cross functionally with field/Affiliate Community Impact Directors to increase the influence of health equity measures for children, youth and young adults.
Work closely with Branding and Communications to ensure consistent, current and relevant use of the AHA’s Office of Health Equity image, brand and marks.
Support and assist in the work of Leadership as needed to yield optimal results in establishing and growing the AHA’s efforts in the SDOH space.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Community Relations, related area or equivalent work experience
Eight (8) years of experience in community organizing, strategic marketing, initiative development, project management, volunteer leadership, or related role
Eight (8) years of experience implementing strategic plans to include consumer marketing, event planning and management, media relations, product/program development, and budget management
Five (5) years of experience developing, managing and delivering marketing campaigns
Ability to apply multicultural lens to every aspect of role
Ability to engage and lead non-traditional and diverse volunteer teams and partnerships
Solid understanding of social determinants of health and ideas around driving impact
Ability to travel up to 15%
