Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Manager, Ambulatory Quality and Informatics in our Quality Health and IT department based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, TX! This position can be remote but must live near a major airport.

The American Heart Association supports a broad range of healthcare quality improvement programs across a variety of settings, including pre-hospital, in-hospital and ambulatory. The American Heart Association leads a practice-based quality improvement program designed to improve outcomes through increased adherence to evidence-based guidelines. The program focuses on the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer through focused quality improvement interventions. Additionally, the American Heart Association supports “Target” campaigns, which focus on driving improvement on a focused measure across a broad number of ambulatory providers.

Manager of Ambulatory Quality and Informatics will work under the direction of the Director of Quality and Health IT to execute the Strategic Plan for the AHA’s suite of quality programs. The incumbent will work with volunteer advisory groups to guide implementation. Additionally, the Manager will collaborate with external and internal business partners as necessary and appropriate to program development (external HIT vendor(s) and internal business units, including the AHA Field Staff). This position will aid in the development of training for the AHA field staff so they can successfully recruit and implement the program at sites across the country. The Manager will oversee the launch of new AHA ambulatory offerings, including gaining approval from program volunteers on program components and criteria, working with HIT vendor(s) to implement offerings and the development and implementation of the communications/marketing plan. The manager also works directly with participating practices to identify opportunities to improve care and deploy strategies to increase adherence to guidelines. Additionally, the Manager works with participating practices and volunteers to determine updates needed to program and measures and works with the HIT vendor(s) to implement those updates. This position also oversees grant deliverables for funded projects, including grant budget oversight and updates as needed to funders.

  • Ambulatgory program management, including volunteer approval of components and criteria, working with HIT vendors to implement offereings and marketing/communicaitons plan development and execution

  • Volunteer Management, inlcuding Steering Committee and Volunteer Sub-Committees

  • Quality Improvement consulting with participating practices

  • Field training to facilitate the recruitment of practice sites and meaningful implementation of the program

  • Grant management, including deliverables and budget oversight

  • Identifies Outpatient Quality and Health IT opportunities to expand program reach and impact and provides recommendations on strategies and scope to the Director of Quality and Health IT.

  • Oversees program enhancements and new program offerings, including Health Information Technology Development projects to support these offerings.

  • Budget and Contract Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Two (2) – five (5) years of relevant experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including conducting presentations and participating in team meetings

  • Project Management Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products, proficient in Outlook, Excel, PPT, and Word

  • Volunteer and Committee Management

  • Quality Improvement and measurement

  • Documentation and Development of Standard Operating Procedures

  • Ability to travel up to 20% locally and overnight stay

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using Share Point

  • Experience coordinating volunteer meetings

  • Ambulatory care quality improvement

  • Implementation of new projects, products, including to-market activation
